A vehicle’s fuel system might not be as concerning as the transmission or the engine. However, problems with a fuel system may reveal serious troubles without warning. If the fuel pump no longer works, don’t expect the engine to do so, either. How could it? No fuel is reaching the engine.
Other problems could arise, such as issues with the fuel injectors. Worn or damaged fuel injectors end up requiring replacing. In many cases, cleaning the fuel injectors could restore them to preferable conditions. Fuel economy and engine performance may go back to acceptable performance levels soon after.
”Minor” fixes with fuel system issues could include replacing a filter. If issues along the lines of poor fuel efficiency, slow pickups, or a loss of power occur, getting an inspection done seems advisable.
