Charging of the battery is not as simple as charging your smartphone.it requires you to be careful, especially with lead-acid batteries, which produces explosive hydrogen when charging. It would be best if you took caution because its explosions can cause serious injuries. Below are steps of charging your car battery;
Disconnect the connecting cables
First, Disconnect the cable connected with a negative terminal to prevent a short circuit of positive terminal and ground. After that, disconnect the red cable connected to the positive terminal.
Check the state of the battery
There are free maintenance batteries and non-free maintenance batteries. With the case of lead-acid batteries, which are not maintenance-free, you should visit the workshop. Before charging your free maintenance battery, you should clean dirt from vent pipes.it is advisable to take your battery to a workshop for test frequently
Start charging
Close all power consumers before starting the charging process. Connect the red cable to the positive terminal, black cable to the negative terminal then connect the charger to the battery before connecting to the primary power source.
Ending the charging process
When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the charger from the power source first then cables from the battery. When installing a cell in the vehicle, connect red cable and black cable to the positive and negative terminal respectively.
